The Weekend Ahead

Things are just about wrapped up for the 2007-08 club season in Europe. Only a few domestic cup competitions and a ticket to next year's English Premier League remain on the schedule.

On Saturday, Inter Milan face Roma in the Coppa Italia Final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. This is the fourth-straight Coppa Final between Inter and Roma; Roma won last year after Inter captured the previous two.

At Hampden Park in Glasgow, Rangers will look to put a positive finish to a disappointing final two weeks when they face Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup Final. Queen of the South, which finished fourth in Scotland's Division One has already booked a surprise trip to next year's UEFA Cup courtesy of their run to the final.

Lyon face PSG in the French Cup Final Saturday with both sides seeking a double. PSG is looking to add to the League Cup they won earlier this year. Despite seven straight league titles, Lyon have not won the French Cup since 1973 and a League-Cup double would be their first.

At Wembley, Bristol City will face Hull in the Championship play-off in what has become known as the world's richest game. With a ticket to next year's Premier League on the line, the winner of the game stands to net 60 million pounds form promotion. The victor will join West Brom and Stoke in next year's EPL.

Inter, Roma to Battle for Coppa Italia

Form has held in the Coppa Italia semifinals.  Serie A's top two teams will meet in the May 24 final when Inter Milan face Roma for the fourth consecutive year.  Roma's 1-1 draw with Catania today was enough to see them through 2-1 on aggregate.  Yesterday, Inter defeated Lazio 2-0 to win on aggregate by the same score.

Roma took last year's Coppa after Inter captured the previous two.  This year's tournament brings a new format to Italy- a single game final at the Stadio Olympico, abandoning the old two-legged format.
